The history of the "Nürnberg Rauschgoldengel" is dating back about 400 years. Once in Nürnberg there was a dollmaker named Melchior Hauser. His little daughter just died and his wife was very sad. He went into his workshop and started working on a doll. By the time he was finished, he looked at his creation and saw this beautiful angel with this lovely face of his beloved daughter wearing a golden dress and a little crown. He gave this angel to his wife and as it was Christmas she was putting it on the Christmastree. The angels changed a little since and in the 19th century the angels have faces and hands made out of wax and beautiful dresses made out of fine brocade, silk or velvet. These angels still today are part of our very special German Christmas tradition. In our home we are using an angel on top of our Christmastree since generations. I cannot imagine Christmas without having an angel!
